How much proud we feel when someone greet us. Its really the time when we smile although we are very tired or unhappy. Here I have a trick which can make your computer greet you when ever you turn on PC, reboot or log in. A few lines in VB script code will let your computer greet you. This will look straight out of a sci-fi movie and this is so easy & cool. Your not-so-tech-savvy friends will not only be amazed at this but they will think you as a creative genius.
Steps :
This VBS file can be executed on all versions of Windows including 'Windows XP', 'Windows Vista', 'Windows 7', 'Windows 8', 'Windows 8.1' and 'Windows 10'
Steps :
- Open 'Notepad'.
-
Copy the exact code given below & paste it into 'Notepad'.
- You can set custom message if you wish "" in line 2.
- Save the file as "Welcome.vbs". Make sure that the file is saved with '.vbs' extension and not like "Welcome.vbs.txt". If the file is saved correctly, the file icon will change from a simple notepad icon to a VB script icon. Now the required script file is ready. For the welcome message to greet you upon log in,we need to load this file at start-up. To do this we need to move the file to the "Startup" folder.
-
Run 'shell:startup' (without '') via 'Run' to open "Startup" folder.
Gradually the path will be:
Path for "Startup" folder in 'Windows Vista' & up.
"C:\Users\{User Name}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup"
Path for "Startup" folder in "Windows XP"
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup" - Now place the saved file to the "Startup" folder. Now when the next time you start your computer, 'Windows' will welcome you in its own computerized voice.
-
For best result, it's recommended to disable default Windows welcome sound.
Run 'mmsys.cpl' via 'Run'. In the popped up window, navigate to the 'Sounds' tab and disable Windows's Startup and Logon sound.
This VBS file can be executed on all versions of Windows including 'Windows XP', 'Windows Vista', 'Windows 7', 'Windows 8', 'Windows 8.1' and 'Windows 10'
