My Folder Locker

Are you facing your friendly detectives? Your friends or brothers try to see your personal data in absence of you? Then here is a simple trick to create your own 'Folder Locker'. Craft your own Locker, that too within a minute, where you can place your confidential files safely. Whoever wants to access these files will have to enter the password set by you.

Steps:
  • Copy-Paste the below code into the 'Notepad'.

    Code:

In the batch code, the password has been set as 'Pass1234'. Replace 'Pass1234' (at two places in the batch code) with your desired password.

  • Save the 'Notepad' file as "MyLocker.bat" in the directory, where you want your locker to be. Make sure that '.bat' is the extension of your file & not '.txt'.

  • Run your "MyLocker.bat" Your will now see a newly created folder named "Locker" in the directory of the saved batch file.

  • Place your confidential data into the "Locker".

  • Run the "MyLocker.bat" file again, this time to lock the "Locker".
The 'Command Prompt' will ask you weather you want to lock the "Locker" or not.
Enter 'Y' followed by 'Enter' to lock it.

    Your files are safe now.
Now, whenever you need to access your confidential data placed in the "Locker", re-run the batch file & input the correct password in the 'CMD' window to open "Locker" followed by 'Enter'

After unlocking you may add additional confidential files and folders but don't fail to lock it again. And if possible you can hide "MyLocker.bat" somewhere.
Note:
  1. The password set in the batch file should not contain white pace(s) or if it has to, enclose it within "" while inputting it in 'CMD' window for opening "Locker" & give a try.

  2. If someone opens the batch file with 'Notepad', he/she can easily get over to the password & more eassily access your "Locker".

  3. So you may rename the extension of the batch file to something else or just delete the batch file to make the "Locker" folder more secure & no retrieve the the "Locker", make the batch file again.

  4. Anyone can easily access the "locker" if he/she runs the below given coded batch-file placed in the same directory as the "MyLocker.bat"

    Code:

  5. Another way to access your confidential data:
    • Navigate to the directory containing your "Locker".
    • Check the 'Show hidden files, folders and drives' option & uncheck the 'Hide protected operating system files(Recommended)' option in the 'View' tab of the 'Folder Options' & click on 'OK'. (Run 'control folders' (without '') via 'Run' to open 'Folder Options'.) You'll now see a folder named: "Computer .{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}", which is actually your disguised "Locker" folder.
    • Use WinRAR to access the "Computer .{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}" folder or search your files using 'Search' tool & get access to them. If you are on 'Win XP', your stored file(s) mayn't be disabled in the Search results.

  6. Files/Folders accessed by you gets stored as shortcuts in "History" and the "Recent" folder. Sometimes your "Locker" files & folders may be seen in search results too due to this. So run 'recent' or 'shell:recent' (to open "Recent" folder) & 'shell:History' (to open "History" folder) via 'Run' & clear there auto saved shortcuts.

  7. You may get an error similar to the below mentioned one in 'CMD':

    Error:
'MDLOCKER' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Sometimes the "Locker" may become visible even after inserting incorrect password.
Such cases generally happen due to incorrect formatting of your text-editor. In both cases, try to copying the batch-code using any other text-editor like WordPad, Notepad++, JEdit & mave & run the new batch file.
